MAIN (Migrant Assistance and Information Network) organized a three-day convention in Jharsuguda, Odisha, from 13–15 September 2026, bringing together participants to reflect on migration experiences, share learning and strengthen collective efforts towards safe, informed and responsible migration.

The convention was honoured by the presence of Mr. James Samad, Additional Superintendent of Police, Jharsuguda, who attended as the Chief Guest. His presence and insights added an important perspective to the discussions on migration, safety, awareness and community responsibility.

The three-day programme featured interactive sessions, group activities, experience sharing and collaborative discussions. Participants reflected on their experiences from the field and explored practical ways to strengthen support systems for migrant workers and their families.

A key focus of the convention was the drafting of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on Migration. The exercise aimed to develop practical and structured approaches for addressing migration-related concerns and ensuring that migrants have timely access to reliable information, guidance and support.

The group activities provided an opportunity for participants to work together, exchange field experiences and identify effective strategies for strengthening migration support mechanisms at the community level.

As a gesture of appreciation and to encourage continued learning, books and mementos were distributed to all participants at the convention.

The three-day convention concluded with a renewed commitment among participants to strengthen networks, promote migration awareness and work towards ensuring that migration is safe, informed and dignified for all.
